Initial Ignition Time and Calorific Value Enhancement of Briquette with Added Pine Resin

The increasing demand for clean energy requires considerable effort to find alternative sources, such as briquettes. This research aims develop a charcoal briquette with added pine resin (API) that has excellent combustion speed and distinctive aroma. Briquettes are composed of charcoal, (concentration: 0%–30%), starch (up 7%). They produced in several stages, including coconut shell pyrolysis conventional combustion, obtain the precursor. Briquette compaction is conducted by mixing densifying resin, using hydraulic press 3 min. total surface area diameter 57.7 cm2 3.5 cm, respectively. briquettes dried at different temperatures, reaching 70°C 24 h. study results show have thickness up 2 respectively; moisture 2.18%–2.62%; ash 11.61%–13.98%; volatile matter 27.15%–51.74%; fixed carbon content 40.24%–59.46%. compressive strength 186–540 kg/cm2. Their calorific value 5,338–6,120 kcal/kg, combusting high 0.15–0.40 s. methoxy naphthalene, phenol, benzopyrrole, lauryl alcohol; ocimene, valencene, cembrene found API. API chemical compounds, musk ambrette, sabinene, limonene, 1-(p-cumenyl) adamantane, butane, propanal, which improve aroma, drug application, fuel production. Accordingly, potential an source health improvement product.
